Nigeria: Air Wick insect repellent

Air Wick is killing two birds with one stone by combining insect repellent and lavender air freshener with its drummer lavender gel insect repellent. The 50g pack, which also comes in rose and peach & jasmine scents, costs €0.42 (30p) and lasts up to 28 days.

Argentina: loo roll with a portable ‘mini roll’

This loo roll from Argentina is reinventing the wheel: instead of a central cardboard roll the core has been substituted with a portable ‘mini roll’ that can be taken out and used on-the-go. A four roll pack will set you back $3.74 (£2.39).

Sweden: Voluspa luxury candle

Scents of aromatic blue clover from the Andean mountains ‘kissed’ with apple and magnolia on a ‘bed’ of oak moss and musk: that’s the scent of this hand poured luxury candle hailing from Sweden, which retails at €15.28 (£10.95) for 113g.

USA: Palmolive washing up liquid

This kosher certified washing up liquid eliminates 99.9% of bacteria from dishes and non-porous kitchen surfaces. It comes in a 250ml bottle for $2.47 (£1.58) and is recyclable as well as refillable.

USA: Water activated kitchen roll

Bounty’s water activated paper towels not only promise to leave surfaces four times cleaner than regular towels, they can also be rinsed and wrung just like a cloth. But they’re not cheap: a pack of six will set you back $8.98 (£5.74).

Brazil: Sage & Jasmine fabric conditioner

The unusual combination of sage & jasmine perfumes in Downy’s fabric conditioner activate with motion and change throughout the day, keeping you smelling sweet from morning until night. The 500ml bottle retails at $3.24 (£2.07).

Venezuela: lemon scented kitchen sponges

Not only do these Scotch-Brite antibacterial kitchen sponges wash your dishes, they feature a lemon aroma which is activated by friction to make washing up time more interesting.

Czech Republic: Bref toilet cleaner

This toilet cleaner from Prague boasts not one, not two, but six different functions to keep your loos sparkling clean. The all-in-one liquid removes rust stains and lime scale from the toilet bowl, disinfects, cleans under the water and provides freshness.

Russia: unscented toilet paper

Forget scented loo roll: the USP of Zewa deluxe winter collection toilet paper is the fact it is unscented and comes with an ‘aqua tube’ – the only biodegradable core that can be flushed down the loo. The only problem is, now what will Russian children use to make telescopes and hamster runs?

France: Henkel fabric detergent

Henkel’s super-concentrated freshness scented fabric detergent is made with an exclusive formula specially designed for its measuring cap system, which apparently ensures the ‘perfect’ amount of detergent is used. At €5.99 (£4.29) for 816ml the bottle will last for 24 washes.
