Bacon traders reported a good week for sales in the run up to the bank holiday. The Danes were delighted by a “very good” trade.
“There has been a lively pick up,” said one trader. Supply was adequate and prices stable. “Prices traditionally ease in the two weeks after the holiday but this year they may not.”
The Dutch said trade was “pretty reasonable” especially in backs. A very low kill in Holland with 50,000 live pigs a week going over the border to Germany meant availability was tight.
