Black garlic has taken a step further into the mainstream by gaining listings with Tesco.
The unusual-looking bulb largely used by chefs will roll out into Express and superstores on 27 May. It is already available through Ocado as well as independent delis.
Marketing company Black Garlic, which sells the product in Europe, is offering a 50g pot (£3.99), two-bulb bag (£2.49) and a paste (£9.99 for 150g).
Black garlic is produced by fermenting normal garlic and does not leave any smell or give bad breath.
