Fresh Del Monte in the UK and EU has reassured customers it is financially secure and is running business as usual.
The Fresh Del Monte company, which operates in the UK and EU, has said it has no legal, operational or financial affiliation to Del Monte Foods which has filed for bankruptcy in the US.
“These developments have no impact on Fresh Del Monte’s business in the UK, Europe, or globally – including the business’s operations, financial strength, supply chain, or ability to serve customers and partners,” said Martin Selley, Del Monte UK MD.
“Fresh Del Monte owns the Del Monte brand and assets for the manufacturing and marketing of our canned fruits and all our other packaged foods and drinks in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Fresh Del Monte continues to operate with full stability and focus, maintaining our commitment to delivering the premium Del Monte branded products and service expected from us.”
Del Monte Foods Inc is currently seeking a buyer after filing for bankruptcy earlier this week.
“After a thorough evaluation of all available options, we determined a court-supervised sale process is the most effective way to accelerate our turnaround and create a stronger and enduring Del Monte Foods,” Greg Longstreet, president and CEO of Del Monte Foods, said in a statement.
