Australian distiller Four Pillars Gin is making its debut in the mults with its launch into Waitrose this month.

Bloody Shiraz Gin (37.8% abv) will hit some 200 stores this month (rsp: £35/70cl), the first time the brand has been available in a multiple retailer in the UK.

The Bloody Shiraz Gin is made by combining the brand’s Rare Dry Gin with Victorian cool climate shiraz grapes. The grapes are steeped in gin for eight weeks, before being pressed and topped up with more Rare Dry Gin to bring it up to bottling strength.

The result, said the brand, was “a beautifully balanced gin with a delicious sweetness and notes of pine forest, white pepper and spices”.

Four Pillars Gin is already listed in independents and available to the on-trade in the UK, with the market being its second biggest after its native Australia, it said.

Co-founder Stuart Gregor said the Waitrose listing was “a huge step forward” for the business.

“We think, and now know, that our Bloody Shiraz is the best bloody gin in the world, and we can’t wait to get more of it to our gin-loving friends across Britain.” he added.
