New booze brand Punchy Drinks is poised to launch what it claims is the UK’s first spicy rum punch.

Rolling out in July, the RTD will be available in 4% abv (rsp: £3/250ml) and 0% abv (rsp: £2/250ml) variants to “bring drinkers and non-drinkers together”, the brand said.

Making their debut in Peach & Ginger flavour, the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variants blend peach, ginger, chai spice and bubbles with premium rum or rum flavouring and are “almost identical” in taste, it claimed.

“Punch is a classic drink that brings people together we’ve simply modernised and redefined,” said founder Paddy Cavanagh-Butler. “Our intention is to inject energy and excitement into the UK cocktail category and we believe Punchy is perfectly placed to do so by responding to the evolving preferences of today’s consumer.”

Both variants are vegan, gluten-free and contain only naturally occurring sugars, with 4.4g per 100ml. The non-alcoholic variant comes in at 20kcals per 100ml, while the 4% abv variant comes in at 46kcals per 100ml.

“Punchy’s punch will always be under sugar tax, gluten-free, vegan-friendly, and made from all-natural ingredients - to give every type of drinker a choice,” added Cavanagh-Butler.

Punchy will initially be available online through specialist retailers Farmdrop and LightDrinks.
