Cadbury Schweppes is expected to reveal details of a major cost-cutting programme tomorrow (Tuesday).

The confectionery giant split its operations into confectionery and beverages in March this year following shareholder pressure and will reveal its plans for the businesses in a trading update.

The plans will include a cost-cutting programme to realise savings of £200m to £300m a year, including the closure of 60 factories, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

As many as 5,000 jobs could be lost in its confectionery division, The Times has reported.

Analysts have speculated that Cadbury will sell off its beverages unit and a number of private equity firms have been linked to the division.
