Ocean Spray mocks the lengths people will go to in order to look good inside, in a £2m TV campaign launching this week. The ads feature "Kate", a fan of extreme health spa treatments, and "Fiona", who prefers to drink Ocean Spray Cranberry, which "helps protect you inside". Ocean Spray claims research shows cranberry stops certain bad bacteria entering the body thanks to the presence of anti-oxidants. The bacterial anti-adhesion mechanism is present in cranberry but not in grape or apple juice, or green tea. The 30-second ads will be aired for three weeks against female-skewed programmes on terrestrial and cable channels, from Monday. The campaign will continue with 10-second ads featuring the two characters during August and September. The promotional activity follows a series of press adverts, which have been running since the spring.
