A range of microwaveable single-serve meals that have been designed to take on the likes of products such as pot noodles and cup soups is being launched by Danby’s Foodservice under its Kettle Cooked Foods brand.
Called Meals on the Move, three flavours have been developed to offer consumers greater choice for a hot lunchtime snack. Two meat recipes - Chilli Con Carne and Chicken Carbonara - sit
alongside a vegetarian Mixed Bean Casserole option.
Phil Ellis, MD at Danby’s Foodervice, said: “Industry research shows an increase in demand for fresh convenience meals. Consumers are also buying more single portions and out-of-home impulse purchases are on the rise.”
The snacks, which come chilled in 270g pots with a flow-wrapped fork, will be launched on October 3, targeting independents and forecourts.
At £1.69, the meals already have listings in Spa and Makro cash and carry.
