She will report directly to Kay Wheelton, head of category buying for the department, and will play a key role in raising the
profile of The Co-op’s extensive range of wines, beers and spirits. This will include its responsible retailing initiatives, range reviews and in-store promotions, as well as marketing and design. Steel began her career at Majestic Wine in 1999, and has also held marketing positions at The Wine Society, Safeway and Mentzendorff, where she passed her wine diploma.
Wheelton welcomed Steel to the BWS team and said: “Her experience will be invaluable in helping to promote and grow our exciting range of beers, wines and spirits.”
