McVitie’s is donating 5p from every pack of its biscuits sold at Morrisons over the next two weeks to young people’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Launching today, the Snack & Give Back campaign aims to raise £100,000 to go towards expanding the charity’s specialist nursing programme.
Laura Gamage, shopper marketing manager of McVitie’s parent company Pladis, said: “CLIC Sargent helps young people living with cancer in so many ways, which is why we are delighted to work closely with them and Morrisons in the hope of raising £100,000 for the invaluable work of their cancer care teams - in particular helping to fund a new nursing programme that will help train healthcare professionals to make a difference to patients’ lives.”
McVitie’s sent some of CLIC Sargent’s volunteers a ‘big biscuity thank you’ hamper and biscuit medal each during the campaign to raise awareness of their stories through social media.
“If our office is anything to go by, a lot of CLIC Sargent supporters love a cup of tea and a biscuit,” said CLIC Sargent director of income and engagement Rachel Kirby-Rider.
“It is brilliant to know that people will be able to pick up some biccies and help us fight for young lives struck by cancer,” she added.
Morrisons chose CLIC Sargent as its new charity partner in February, with the aim of raising £8m over the next three years. In the UK, approximately 4,000 people under 25 are currently diagnosed with cancer every year.
