2 Sisters Food Group has created two new chief operating officer roles

2 Sisters Food Group has implemented a reshuffle of the top brass and created two new COO roles in a bid to strengthen the business for the future.

A chief operating officer (COO) protein, and a COO chilled, ambient and frozen, will report directly to CEO Ranjit Singh Boparan.

Chris Walker, currently group procurement & supply chain director, has been appointed COO, chilled, ambient and frozen. It will see him take full responsibility for 2 Sisters’ chilled ready meals, biscuits, bakery and frozen trading divisions and he will retain his current remit for procurement and supply chain.

2 Sisters is currently recruiting for a COO, protein - a role that will see the holder take responsibility for all of the company’s poultry, added value poultry and red-meat operations in the UK and Holland.

It is understood the changes will help streamline the structure of the business and result in fewer roles directly reporting to Singh.

Divisional managing directors (MDs) Colin Smith (biscuits); Eddie Power (frozen); Simon Wookey (chilled) and Veepul Patel (bakery) will report directly to Walker.

Divisional MDs Aart Voets (European poultry), Steve Ellis (UK & 2 Sisters Poultry), Jose Peralta (red meat) and Olivier Goudineau (added value) will report to the COO, protein.

The changes – which will take effect from today – would strengthen the business and put the customer even closer to the heart of everything the company did, said Singh Boparan.

“As our business grows, I am keen to ensure we have a team that is responsive to our customers’ needs and is shaped in a way that is fit for the future.”

Walker’s promotion was well deserved, he added. “He has had an outstanding 32-year career within retail, starting at Asda before working for almost 20 years at Morrisons. As senior trading director for fresh foods at Morrisons, he was instrumental in developing their vertical integration manufacturing model.”
