Waitrose will have the most advanced home shopping grocery website in the world, according to director of selling and marketing Mark Price. He said the site was not an adaption of its Waitrose@work site but a brand new system developed with IBM and JKD. He added: "IBM are very proud of the site. "We'll be adding a number of enhancements early in the new year and we believe it will be the most advanced grocery home shopping site in the world." The service is due to launch as a trial on November 13 at four branches: Abingdon, Oxfordshire; Buckhurst Hill, Essex; Petersfield, Hampshire; and Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Initially Waitrose has offered the service to existing John Lewis account holders, and Price said about 300 had registered. He expected it would be rolled out to other customers within two to three months. If the trial proves successful he said the service could be rolled out to more stores within months. It will offer on-line shoppers the complete Waitrose range and orders will be processed through in-store picking. {{NEWS }}
