It may not be modest, but Hong Kong's self-named Great Food Hall isn't wrong either. Our experts heaped praise on Great's huge medley of 46,000 gourmet items, including 2,000 organic and health-orientated items and a bakery offering 300 varieties of bread, from French baguettes and Italian ciabatta to local delicacies such as pineapple buns and tailor-made cakes and pastries.

"They have turned a basement into a wonderful food emporium with a good mix of eat-in and take-out foods" said one expert, commenting on its recent renovation project.

Located at the basement of Pacific Place and owned and operated by international retail business AS Watson, the 34,500 sq ft store has an emphasis on seasonality and regionality.

Thematic festivals are often organised in order to promote the latest new and interesting products to shoppers.

Food theatre also features heavily in-store. Sushi products are made fresh in front of shoppers every day.

There's an olive oil fixture dubbed Crescendo where shoppers can sample more than 50 olive oils and vinegars before ordering.

Their order is then poured straight from the cask or barrel into a personal decanter.

And with its luxury foods comes a truly luxury service.

Customers can expect to be truly pampered by Great Food Hall, with delivery, valet, personal shopper and nutritional consultation services, as well as chef consultations, menu planning, year-round hampers and gift box arrangements.
