CI Traders recovers
Retail leisure conglomerate CI Traders' full-year pre-tax profit to January 28 rose 3.4% to £15.2m, on turnover up 11% to £326.1m. The group, which acquired two Safeway stores in Jersey and Guernsey from Morrisons last April, added that, although the stores had a very difficult summer, trading was now recovering.

Desserts recalled
The Serious Food Company has recalled two desserts due to the possible presence of fragments of glass. The affected products are The Serious Food Company Tiramisu 125g and The Serious Food Company Champagne and Raspberry Trifle 160g, all date codes up to April 28.

Joint venture
Scottish & Newcastle UK has formed a joint venture with Swiss logistics company Kuehne + Nagel UK to distribute drinks in Britain. As part of the venture, S&N UK's distribution will be consolidated with Kuehne + Nagel to create KN Drinks Logistics.

Cake-baking boom
Cake manufacturer Finsbury Food Group said it expects full-year pre-tax profit to exceed current forecasts. In a trading update, it said there had been excellent operational performance in its bakeries in the first three months of the year. Dave Brooks, chief executive, added: "We will be working hard to maintain these standards in a very competitive marketplace."

Cardpoint in talks
E-payment and cash machine provider Cardpoint has received a preliminary approach regarding a potential offer for the company. Cardpoint said that initial discussions were taking place to assess the seriousness of the approach - these were at a very early stage and there was no certainty that an offer would be made.
