Living and breathing every new brand she works with

General marketing manager at Premier Foods, Sue Knight, is passionate about marketing and throws her all at every project that comes her way.

Premier Foods brought Knight in a couple of months ago to take advantage of her 16 years’ experience of food and drink marketing, with such companies as Allied Bakeries, Allied Domecq, Sara Lee and Centura Foods, where she worked with the Bisto, Sharwood’s and Paxo brands.

She is now responsible for Premier’s £100m portfolio of pickles and sauces, including the Branston and Loyd Grossman ranges.

Originally Knight tried her best to avoid marketing – because that was her father’s profession – but after starting out selling bread from Allied Bakeries’ vans she was drawn into the world of brands.

She says: “I love brands and I am very passionate about them and I’ve been very lucky to work with fantastic products in the food and drink industry.

“I get a buzz following people around the supermarket to see what they have got in their baskets and I’ll talk to them to find out why they buy one brand and not the other.”

Knight played international hockey for a number of years, and she says she brings the same commitment, passion and determination to be the best at her sport to work.

“I always look to win and that rubs off on the brands and the people I work with,” she says. “I’ll always go that extra mile. Every time I work with a new brand, I live and breath it and can guarantee I will make improvements.”

She is excited about the opportunities ahead, with Premier’s commitment to promote Branston and Loyd Grossman further.

Knight adds: “I’ve picked up a really great team here and we have a stable of great British brands that are part of the British home and you cannot invent that.”
