UK confectionery company, Kinnerton, has been sold to investment firm Zetar for £32m.

Kinnerton, which supplies Asda, Co-Op and Tesco, among others, specialises in confectionery and chocolate, particularly those which contain toys and popular characters such as Teletubbies, Barbie and Bob the Builder.

The head of Kinnerton, Clive Beecham, will be the main profiteer from the sale, along with other members of his family and Andrew Sellers, who co-founded the company in 1978.

Beecham joins the Zetar board following the takeover. Zetar’s shares surged 72.5p to 305p at the weekend.
