>>unlike spar, wholly owned by members

Londis is the second largest symbol group in the United Kingdom after Spar supplying 2,232 outlets in Britain from three regional distribution centres. The group was formed in 1959 by a group of independent retailers belonging to the London District Council of the National Council of Grocers. Unlike rival Spar, the wholesale/distribution side of the business is wholly owned by members, each with one shareholding in the company. Membership gives retailers access to a delivered service, plus a recognised brand and marketing support. Londis supplies about 3,400 branded lines and 600 own label lines. Like Musgrave, Londis is a member of Nisa CBC.
