Marigold gloves

Marigold gloves have been sold to Vileda owner FHCS

Vileda owner Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions (FHCS) is acquiring the Marigold household gloves business.

FHCS said acquiring the Marigold brand from protection products specialists Ansell would complement the existing FHCS household gloves operation, which did not currently extend into the UK market.

“Marigold is a market leader in the UK and Ireland, and also has a strong presence in Hong Kong, Italy and The Netherlands,” added Henrik Sternberg, UK country manager for FHCS. “In addition we will be able to extend our global presence by entering the Japanese consumer market for the first time.”

Under the agreement, FHCS will acquire the global trademark rights for the Marigold brand, which has annual sales of around €17m.

FHCS said it and Ansell have had “a strong partnership” in household gloves for more than 20 years that had included “leveraging Ansell’s global expertise in research and development and manufacturing while maximizing FHCS’s strengths in consumer research, marketing and sales”.

SHS UK & SHS Ireland will continue to distribute Marigold.
