Morrisons is gearing up for the rollout of its ‘optimisation’ programme as it seeks to turn the business around after a series of profit warnings.
One store manager told The Grocer that the implementation would begin in the next few weeks. A spokesman for Morrisons said that although full details of the programme were not due to be revealed until March 23, when it will announce its preliminary results for the year to January 26, store managers were being kept updated on issues that would affect their stores.
The optimisation programme is expected to see the final stripping out of the dual running costs associated with the takeover of Safeway in 2004.
Morrisons has also scheduled a conference for managers in Harrogate on February 28.
