The Co-operative Group has won a Good Egg Award for increasing free range egg sales.
The British Free Range Egg Producers Association praised the retailer for increasing the free range share of its total egg sales from 11% to 60% in six years. Association chairman Tom Vesey said: “The Co-op’s achievement is outstanding.”
The Co-op has set a target of 80% of egg sales to be free range by 2007, paving the way for the eventual elimination of caged lines.
