Lucy Neville-Rolfe has been appointed to the board of Tesco as executive director for corporate and legal affairs. Neville-Rolfe was appointed company secretary to Tesco's board of directors in March 2004 in addition to her role as group corporate and legal affairs director.

In the role, she was the lynchpin between Tesco's shareholders and its board and was also in charge of the multiple's public image.

She has worked at Tesco since 1997, having previously worked for Defra, the Cabinet office and John Major's Downing Street Policy Unit. She takes her place on the board immediately. Jonathan Lloyd, deputy company secretary, will replace her as company secretary.
