Former Tesco joint chairman Hyman Kreitman has died at the age of 86. A son-in-law of the multiple's founder, the late Sir John Cohen, he joined Tesco in 1946 as an executive director when the chain had 95 open-fronted shops. He played a major role in the development of the multiple from 1968 to 1974 and served variously as md, joint chairman and chairman. He retired from Tesco in 1974 and became an active supporter of higher education and the arts. {{NEWS }}
