Perrier Vittel has become the latest company to push mineral water as a slimming aid with the launch of Contrex in the UK.
Initially rolling out exclusively through Waitrose, Contrex  which comes from the Vosges region of France  is said to help eliminate toxins from the body as well as provide a natural source of calcium and magnesium  essential minerals to help dieters keep in shape.
One-litre bottles are rolling out priced 49p.
Perrier is also rolling out two other products under the Contrex umbrella  In Shape and Radiance.
In Shape contains vitamin C from lemon and passion fruit juices, while fucus and ginseng are said to help energise slimmers.
Radiance, meanwhile, helps keep skin hydrated by providing beauty vitamins C and E and folic acid. Available in 330ml glass bottles, both variants come in packs of six priced around £4.70.
Perrier said is was already selling hundreds of millions of bottles of Contrex worldwide.
