RD Johns and Cooper Foods

Devon-based wholesaler RD Johns has acquired foodservice supplier Cooper Foods to strengthen its capabilities and extend its reach.

Cooper Foods, which was founded in 1986 and is based in Andover, Hampshire, provides independent pubs, restaurants and catering businesses with fresh meats, seafood, deli and frozen products.

RD Johns said the acquisition would allow it to extend its services across the Home Counties and into outer London, as well as broaden its product range.

“This is more than just a business move, it’s a strategic move based on shared values and a common vision for excellence, innovation, and growth,” said RD Johns.

“We’re confident that this acquisition will foster even greater success for our customers, employees, and suppliers.”

The acquisition of the Hampshire-based business comes after RD Johns unveiled plans for a new depot in Andover last October.

The 36,893 sq ft site will stock chilled, frozen, ambient and non-food, and is expected to be fully operational by January 2026.
