Tesco plans to increase its transparency by appointing its very first code compliance officer…but the name of the officer is being kept secret.
The supermarket said the appointment illustrates how seriously it took its relationships with suppliers.
If a supplier feels Tesco is not complying with the code of practice, they should write to The Code Compliance Officer, c/o Tesco Company Secretary, Lucy Neville-Rolfe.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “We are not going to release the name as we are keen not to build up their profile due to the nature of the job.
“Overwhelmingly, the response is that we are a good business to
work with but there are issues, like access to buyers.”
He added: “We are good at talking things through and any issues will be resolved before they are taken to the OFT.
“The code compliance officer will be a clear contact point if suppliers don’t want to take an issue to the commercial team.”
