David Salkeld, group chief executive of Grampian Country Food Group, is leaving the firm.
Grampian said his departure was wholly amicable and that he was leaving on good terms.
Salkeld joined Grampian in 2003 from Arla Foods, where he was chief executive of its UK business. He has recently steered Grampian through the restructuring of its operations into three distinct business units in an effort to put in place a streamlined management team.
However, his departure comes as the group faces strike action from staff over the closure of their final salary scheme. As The Grocer went to press, workers were engaged in a strike ballot.
Fred Duncan, the group’s executive chairman, would assume Salkeld’s executive responsibilities, a company spokesman said.
Duncan said: “On behalf of the main board, I would like to thank David for the very positive contribution he has made to the business and wish him every success for his future career.”
