Asda is considering changing the layout of all Living stores following the announcement that it is to close all George standalones.

The clothing range at the Leeds Living store has been moved to the ground floor following the closure of the city's George standalone. The move has resulted in a sales uplift, and if the performance continues Asda will roll out the new layout to its 13 other Living stores.

The remaining 10 George standalones will close over the next three months, with the Manchester site converting into a Living.

Asda said it would now revamp the George department of its superstores and grow clothing sales through the launch of a transactional George website this summer.

The chain also revealed it would open three more Living stores in Newport, Stratford-upon-Avon and Teesside this year.
