The Soft Drink Company has joined buying group Sugro UK.

The cash & carry was previously a member of rival wholesale buying group Confex, and said it was joining Sugro UK this month to "take full advantage of the terms, structures and promotional programme".

The wholesaler, which is located on the same road in Sheffield as a Booker and a Makro, was formed in 1989 and supplies drinks, snacks and confectionery to shops, offices, venues and schools in South Yorkshire. It also offers a next-day delivery service.

"We are delighted that we are able to help and assist this company with its growth over the years to come," said Sugro UK MD Philip Jenkins.

The capture represents a further boost for Sugro UK. Earlier this year it launched a value offer called Quidzin to help independent retailers compete against the multiples.
