Spar has recruited Booker confectionery buyer Anthony Taylor as proprietary brand trading controller to increase its buying power in the convenience sector.
Taylor joins the trading team at Harrow and will report directly to buying director Mark Keeley. He will be responsible for the key convenience categories of confectionery, soft drinks, crisps, snacks and select ambient grocery products.
Taylor said: "My biggest challenges will be maintaining and driving sales and capitalising on the benefits of new products in the marketplace."
Taylor began his career in retail with Sainsbury, where after 18 months of instore training he became buyer for hot beverages and organic groceries. After that he spent a year with Superdrug as a buyer of household and aircare products. He went on to work for Booker for 18 months.
