Tesco has replaced its chilled own-label Chinese ready meals and side dishes with a new range, after securing an exclusive marketing agreement with TV chef Ken Hom.

The retailer is switching all 27 of its current SKUs for the 32-product Ken Hom range, which includes ready meals such as Kung Po Chicken and Chilli Beef (rsp: £2.48), meal-for-two dinner kit boxes (rsp: from £5.25) and 18 Chinese starters (rsp: £2.25).

Hom’s signature and face will appear on the range’s packaging, which is due to arrive in Tesco chillers this week.

“‘We are constantly talking to our consumers and have recognised a growing demand for high-quality, authentic Oriental prepared meals,” said a Tesco spokesman. “This was the right time to introduce a range that satisfied the demand.”

Tesco’s Shanghai Garden value range will not be affected by the changes.
