The Morrisons store on Saxon Street in Denton, Greater Manchester, won The Grocer 33 Top Store award this time last year.
Deputy manager Pete Matthews credited the success to the store's high morale and staff retention.
When we called the store this week, duty manger Tracey Miller informed us that store manager Kenny Steeles was off duty and that Matthews had been transferred to the Morrisons store in Cheadle Heath, Manchester.
Miller said the Denton store's footfall was steady at 25,000 customers a week. She also mentioned that the store has been renovated in the past year to make room for an expanded and upgraded selection of seasonal non food, electrical and health & beauty products.
