Robin Barr, executive chairman of soft drinks manufacturer AG Barr, is to assume a part-time chairmanship on February 1.
Roger White, MD of the company, is to become chief executive at the same time. It will be the first time in the 100 years it has been a public limited company that it has been led by someone unrelated to the Barr family. Barr has worked for the company for 44 years.
He said: “Roger has delivered a first class performance since he started as MD 18 months ago and I am confident he has the skills and the motivation to succeed in his new role.”
White said: “I look forward to the challenge of leading the company which has the potential to develop much further.”
White joined AG Barr from Ranks Hovis McDougall where he was commercial director of British Bakeries.
He worked for RHM for 15 years. Before that he was managing director of Le Pain Croustillant.
