Amazon lockers

The group has identified 30 independent retailer-owned stores as having the potential to install a locker

Symbol group Select & Save has signed a company-wide agreement to install Amazon self-service delivery lockers at its stores.

A locker has already been installed in the company-owned store in Wythall, and the group has identified 30 independent retailer-owned stores as having the potential to install a locker.

Select & Save said it would now be discussing the opportunity with those members.

“It’s a nice vehicle to remind people we are here and hopefully if they are coming to pick up a parcel they will come in and have a look around,” said Select & Save managing director Andrew King.

The lockers can affix to a wall or be secured in concrete foundations and can be situated inside or outside. They require a level surface and a live wire for the electrics to run from.

King told The Grocer the company would consider the Amazon Hub Counter service in conjunction with PayPoint for stores not suitable to host a locker.

Wythall is currently the only company-owned store, however plans are underway to expand by another five stores within the Birmingham area.
