A Spar store and garage has upgraded its email-managed delivery service with the launch of a new online store.
The Parkfoot-based store, in West Malling, is now offering its customers a more “traditional” online shopping service, following high demand for its delivery and click & collect services during the pandemic.
Initially, it required shoppers to send their grocery list via email, which staff would then pick from shelves.
But the retailer said it lacked a shop-like facility, where shoppers can usually click on specific items they need, with accompanying visuals of the product.
Now the store is presenting its customers with the shop online option that includes product imagery. It also offers a contact-free, next day delivery or collection.
Customers can choose goods from the butchers, deli, bakery, fresh fruit and vegetables, tobacco, and flowers, as well as wines, beer, spirits and mixers from the off licence.
The retailer said the online store will be a permanent addition to its operations, that provides customers the convenience without having to come into store if they do not want to.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to take Parkfoot online and to offer our traditional convenience store with the modern method of online ordering,” said managing director David Charman.
“It’s more important now than ever that we make sure we have the system in place to ensure our customers get all the essential items they need safely and reliably.
“We’ve invested in a new online ordering system to help our customers during this worrying time and look forward to continuing to grow our ordering service in the future. “
Running the service at Parkfoot, Sara Taylor, said: “I am so excited to see this new way of shopping at Parkfoot become an all-year service. One of the team will head out in our cheerful green van to bring you your shopping, saving you time and effort, fuel money, queues and worry. ”
Delivery within a 4 miles radius costs £3 and is free for shoppings baskets of more than £50. Click & collect is also free.
