Nampak Plastics is trialling a new version of its Infini milk bottle that is 20% lighter than the four- pint market standard.

Nampak’s Infini - launched in 2011 - is used by M&S, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s and is currently 15% lighter than a standard four-pint bottle.

“We believe we’ve reached a new pinnacle with the creation of a 32g four-pint Infini bottle, said Nampak Plastics MD, Eric Collins. Nampak claims that if it moved its entire annual output of two billion milk bottles to the new Infini, it would save the industry 15,000 tonnes of resin each year. Milk bottles represent the largest amount of waste packaging from dairy products, according to Dairy UK.
