The full agenda and speaker line-up for the inaugural The Grocer Health Summit has been finalised, three weeks ahead of the event at the QEII Centre, London on 15 September 2026.

The one-day summit will tackle the increasingly contentious debate around food, health and industry, covering everything from health tracking and longevity to food poverty and monetising the microbiome, as it works towards finding effective outcomes and proven solutions to government health targets and regulation changes.

Headline sponsor Sainsbury’s is backing the summit as an opportunity to help shape the future health agenda. Explaining its support for the event, CEO Simon Roberts – who will be speaking on on the future of healthier, more accessible food – said now was “the right moment for a new conversation at scale to refocus our collective attention on the big questions facing the sector”.

Tesco healthcare managing director Tamara Rajah, Boots chief healthcare officer Jamie Kerruish and Holland & Barrett CEO Anthony Houghton are also coming together to highlight the vital role retail plays in public wellbeing.

They will be joined by Dr Chris van Tulleken, author of the Sunday Times bestselling book ‘Ultra Processed People’ and one of the UK’s leading voices on nutrition and public health. In his keynote session, van Tulleken will be speaking about what comes next for the future of UK health and how businesses can prepare.

With nutrition, wellness and food system reform now firmly on boardroom agendas across the grocery sector, the programme will address some of the industry’s most pressing questions:

  • How will GLP-1 medications change food and drink consumption?
  • How should businesses respond to the ultra-processed food debate?
  • How can brands make credible and compliant health claims?
  • How should retailers and suppliers prepare for tighter regulation and advertising restrictions?
  • Which health and wellness trends represent the biggest commercial opportunities?
  • How can businesses balance public health expectations with commercial growth?

Other speakers include author, influencer and Tonic Health founder Sunna van Kampen, who will be exploring the role businesses really play in the nation’s health; British Nutrition Foundation CEO Elaine Hindal, who willl be examining how food brands are navigating ultra-processed panic; Food Foundation executive director Anna Taylor, who will discuss why health products are increasingly expensive; and The Turmeric Co CEO Thomas Robson-Kanu, who will be asking whether food and drink can genuinely help tackle stress and mental health.

Created to help grocery businesses navigate the increasingly complex health landscape, The Grocer Health Summit will explore how shifting consumer attitudes are shaping behaviour, product reformulation and innovation; how health regulation and legislation will reshape business models; how marketing must evolve in a post‑HFSS, GLP‑1-obsessed world; and, crucially, how companies can plan for the future.

It is a must-attend event for anyone looking to understand shifting consumer behaviour, stay ahead of policy and regulatory developments and connect with the experts shaping the sector’s future.
