Winner: Londis
Londis has won the symbol/franchise retailer for the second consecutive year.
The Booker-owned symbol operator returned to the winner’s enclosure after focusing its strategy on strengthening retailer profitability. Londis’ plan was to ensure every decision last year delivered measurable value to independents. This included streamlined operational processes, improved ordering systems and enhanced vehicle tracking. A £2m investment in its delivery fleet increased safety, capacity and service consistency.
The results were exceptional, including the recruitment of 190 new stores to the group, of which 80% moved from competitor groups.
Londis helped retailers drive incremental sales with the addition of Costa Coffee tie-ups, bubble tea zones and EV charging facilities.

Overall non-tobacco sales were up 6% and outperformed the wider convenience market, while own-label sales were up 12% and promotional participation up 13%.
There was also notable success for Londis’ Store of the Future programme. In total, 141 stores went through the upgrade process in the past year, with average sales uplifts of 23%, while the participating retailers received payback for their investment within a year.
Booker’s Scoot rapid delivery service was also rolled out to 150 Londis stores, and it generated an average weekly sales increase of £1,700 per retailer.
