A range of premium delicatessen-style products aimed at families is set to launch at the International Food Exhibition (IFE07) event in London next month.

Deli Sante, a collection of salads, soups, sauces, smoothies and savoury pastries, is the brainchild of Charles Coleman and John Pearson, who identified a gap in the market for larger portions.

"Deli Sante was born out of the fact we felt there was great demand for high quality chilled deli-style products," said Coleman. "The bigger pack sizes are geared more towards entertaining and families."

However, bespoke sizes and variants would be considered. Quality was key, he added: "Our philosophy is about using the best quality ingredients, offering local and seasonal where possible and not sacrificing taste for value and convenience."

The Deli Sante range includes three varieties of fresh soup in two-litre packs, priced at £3.99. The company is also working on one-litre and 275ml options.

It will also unveil a range of seasonal salads including shredded duck and smoked salmon & prawn, which will be sold in 1kg packs serving four to six people, priced at £5.99.

Four core smoothies are also part of the line-up, and come in one-litre and 330ml sizes. Two 'super smoothies' complete the range: a UK Kentish apple with blackberry & raspberry and a healthy option in red grape, pomegranate, blackcurrant and acai.

Coleman said he hoped to secure listings in a number of premium retailers. "Our focus is also on provenance and seasonal foods," he said. "Our retail target is somewhere like Waitrose, which would be a good fit, but we haven't yet contacted grocery retailers. The idea is to bring the local delicatessen to the supermarkets."

The range already has listings with Costco.
