Ready meal supplier Food Pro Manufacturing has developed a range of frozen, microwaveable snack pots.
The Wigan-based business is undercutting the price of most chilled meal pots with its £1.50 Fusion pots (300ml), which roll out next month to retailers including Nisa and Londis. They will be available in five variants that can be heated in seven minutes: chicken bhaji curry & rice Hawaiian pasta with smoked diced ham in a tomato and pineapple sauce chilli pork meatballs with penne pasta teriyaki pork ribs with peppers, water chestnuts and noodles and chicken chow mein.
Food Pro said it was looking to go head-to-head with fresh and ambient single-serve pots and tap into the booming lunchtime snacking market. It is targeting 18 to 35-year-olds and will focus on the independent convenience channel.
The move comes on the back of “significant investment” in Food Pro’s Wigan factory.
