UK multiples appear to be back on course with increased sales of Florida red and pink grapefruit this season. Import figures of 430,000 cartons were up 20% to the end of January according to Robert Ballin, UK representative for the state's Department of Citrus. "There is already an expectation we will at least be back to our target of 800,000 cartons by the summer," he said. Ballin also believes that because fruit quality is particularly good this year, there is still potential to sell a million cartons. Florida grapefruit is currently benefiting this month from several store tastings and local radio commercials tagged to specific supermarkets. The industry is also linking these promotions to fruit juice. {{M/E FRESH PRODUCE }}
