Jenny Ashmore, Procter & Gamble Paper’s UK marketing director, is leaving the UK business to take up the role of global franchise leader for its nappy brand Pampers.
Ashmore leaves her current role after a year-and-a-half, during which time she says she has increased Pampers’ market share from 46% last year to 62% this year.
She has worked for P&G for more than 10 years, having joined its Brussels health and beauty care division from oil giant Shell as assistant brand manager for P&G’s skincare range Clearasil.
She also worked for P&G’s
professional business and on an assignment researching the role of interactive television marketing, before becoming UK brand manager for Pampers in 2001. In this role she helped launch P&G’s Kandoo range of cleaning products for children, including toilet wipes, hand soaps and wash mittens.
“Kandoo Toilet Wipes helped thousands of children learn how to correctly use the toilet by themselves. It was a big new category for Procter & Gamble,” Ashmore said.
Ashmore added that in her new role she will be working closely with P&G’s research and development and product supply teams to investigate how P&G takes forward the design and innovation of its products.
She replaces Robert van Pappelendam whose new role is yet to be confirmed.
Geoffrey Podger, executive director of the European Food Safety Authority, has been appointed chief executive of the Health and Safety Executive. Podger, who takes up the role on November 28, replaces Timothy Walker, who retires in September.

Home entertainment supplier Handleman UK has promoted MD Rob Salter to the position of group vice president, Wal-Mart and global sourcing. Wal-Mart is one of Handleman’s major clients. He will be replaced by Handleman UK’s supply chain and purchasing director, Glyn Angel.
