Heinz UK & Ireland has appointed John Hans as vice president of sales.

Hans takes up his new role today (April 1), replacing David Huse, who is leaving the role after nearly three years to become vice president of sales for PepsiCo UK and Ireland.

Hans has worked with Heinz in the US for more than a decade. He was most recently vice president of strategic customer teams, dedicated to growing sales of Heinz brands for five of the biggest retail customers in the US.

Prior to Heinz, Hans worked for Procter & Gamble and IBM. Jane Miller, president of Heinz UK & Ireland, said: "John's appointment highlights the pool of global talent that Heinz has at its fingertips. His substantial experience, combined with his track record of delivering sales growth and his leadership capabilities, will ensure that he builds on the strong sales foundation we have built up."

Huse joined Heinz as area sales director for the UK & Ireland in July 2003 after 19 years at Procter & Gamble, latterly as marketing director for healthcare and sales director for Boots and the pharmacy sector.

Meanwhile, Joe Jimenez, president and CEO of Heinz Europe, has been made executive vice president, president and CEO for Heinz's operations in Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.

C Scott O'Hara becomes executive VP, president and CEO for Heinz Europe.
