Convenience food manufacturer Greencore has appointed Alwen Hill to the new position of group purchasing and supply chain director as it tries to keep a lid on inflationary cost pressures. The former managing director of the group's chilled sauces and soups category will be responsible for improving efficiency in the in-bound supply chain, warehousing and HGV distribution. She will retain responsibility for Greencore's purchasing management teams. "Achieving lowest cost in our supply chain is an increasingly important objective," said Greencore chief executive David Dilger. "Alwen has considerable experience in the purchasing and operational sphere. Her appointment to this important new role will ensure Greencore fully develops this area." Chilled sauces and soups financial director Andy Reeves will replace Hill as category managing director. Reeves and Alwen will take on their new roles from 1 October.
