Iceland’s charitable arm has donated £300,000 to help pay for essential gifts for vulnerable children at Christmas.

The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation’s donation to Action for Children will go towards its annual ‘Secret Santa’ campaign, providing vulnerable children with essentials such as hot meals and warm clothes.

Iceland staff have recorded their own version of a Christmas carol to celebrate the donation, which represents £10 each from the 30,000-strong workforce.

It is the second year in row Iceland has supported the annual campaign run by Action for Children, its lead charity partner.

“I know Action for Children will work tirelessly to ensure this money helps those who need it most and I’m delighted that the foundation can help make that happen,” said Paul Dhaliwal, Iceland Foods’ trading director and IFCF trustee.

Action for Children CEO Melanie Armstrong said: “It’s deeply worrying that in 2021 there are still more than four million children living in poverty in the UK. But Action for Children is working hard to change this.

“With this incredible donation from the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation we can be a vital lifeline for thousands of UK children.”
