Fairtrade Foundation

Silver Kasoro-Atwoki, director and chairman of the Mabale Growers Tea Factory in Uganda, has been appointed to the board of the Fairtrade Foundation. Kasoro-Atwoki said: "The UK is a very important market for African tea producers. I hope to bring the perspective of African producers to the highest level of the Foundation's discussions and planning processes."

Gielsen for finance

Dairy specialist Campina, which produces milkshake brand Yazoo, has appointed Kees Gielsen as chief financial officer. Gielsen will join the company on 1 October but will not take up his new role until 1 January 2007. He is currently senior vice president/corporate officer at Sara Lee Corporation in the US. He replaces Simon Quist, who is retiring.

Dach joins Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart has appointed Leslie Dach as executive vice president of corporate affairs and government relations. Dach, who will take up his new role next month, joins from public relations firm Edelman, where he was vice chairman. He will be responsible for the company's communications, government relations and the Wal-Mart Foundation.

Ioannou quits CCHBC

Leonidas Ioannou has resigned from the board of directors of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company to enable him to devote more time to other priorities. He has been a non-executive director of CCHBC's board for the past 25 years. He will be replaced by Anastassis David.

Acting for farmers

The Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group has appointed Michael Laurenson as vice-chairman. Laurenson is the owner of Blueshell Mussels in Brae, Shetland. In his new role he will represent farmers in the northern isles area of Scotland.African appointment
