Salmonella's toll
Mars sold more chocolate than Cadbury Schweppes in the four weeks to 14 October, according to ACNielsen data, following a 5% year-on-year fall in Q3 sales at the Bournville-based company. Cadbury blamed the heatwave as well as the salmonella scare recall in June, and said consumer confidence was recovering well.
Asda zero tolerance
Asda's first zero waste to landfill store will be its supermarket in Canford Heath, Dorset, which will now recycle, reuse or compost all of its waste. Asda has committed to send nothing to landfill by 2010.
