Kepak is adding a hot subs range to its Rustlers fast food portfolio to tap into consumer demand for subway sandwich snacks.

Rustlers Hot Subs, available from next month, come in two variants; southern fried chicken with creamy mayo, and tangy meatballs with tomato & herb sauce. Both are £1.99 but will be available on a special £1 deal at launch. The range would fill a gap at retail for the hot subs concept, which has been "a resounding success" in the high street, said marketing director John Armstrong. "It will strengthen demand at lunchtime and broaden appeal of Rustlers among females and consumers aged 25 to 44," he said.

Rustlers Hot Subs will be backed by national radio and online activity. It will also feature as a new end frame on future TV ads.

At the same time, Kepak is adding a chicken, mozzarella & black olive tapenade panini to its Ugo's Deli Café brand [rsp: £2.39].
