KP has backed wholesalers who have objected to the OFT over Walker's proposed purchase of Golden Wonder's Wotsits brand and van sales fleet (The Grocer, June 15, p5).
MD Will Carter said: "We have made a submission to the OFT in writing.
"We have two primary concerns. The first is that Walkers has just under 50% of the salty snacks market. This acquisition will push them over half way. They are already around three times the size of their nearest competitor, KP. "
Walkers will acquire the largest van sales fleet in the country  140 vans  and KP is asking the OFT to consider whether this might influence range, space and visibility  particularly in independents.
