Carabao hasn’t been in the UK for long, but it’s spent heavily to gain recognition - most notably on its EFL Cup sponsorship.

The energy drink’s first TV ad is suitably gung-ho. We meet Clive the Carabao - an eccentrically dressed water buffalo. In a caffeine rush of colours and cut ‘n’ paste images, he gives us the drink’s improbable-but-true backstory: that it was invented by a Thai rock star. Then he tells us who the drink is intended for: everyone, basically.

It’s likeable, though it struggles to justify its ‘bonkers drink for bonkers lives’ slogan - until the ad’s kicker, in which its flashy £1m giveaway is trumpeted, and Clive randomly confesses he has no concept of time. Energetic stuff!
